Antimicrobial effect of nitric oxide

نویسندگان

چکیده

138 patients who were diagnosed with gastric and duodenal ulcers during EGDS treated. The inclusion of exogenous nitric oxide in the anti-ulcer treatment contributed to eradication Hp, restoration membrane component damaged cells, stabilization local immune reactions humoral immunity. NO-therapy accelerated epithelialization by 2 times compared did not receive complex therapy.

Effect of Neutrophils on Nitric Oxide Production from Stimulated Macrophages

Background: During the initial phase of an infection, there is an upregulation of inducible nitric oxide synthase in the macrophages for the production of nitric oxide. This is followed by the recruitment of polymorphonuclear leukocytes (neutrophils) which release arginase. Arginase competes with inducible nitric oxide synthase for a common substrate L-arginine. Objective: To investigate whethe...

The potential of nitric oxide releasing therapies as antimicrobial agents

Nitric oxide (NO) is a short-lived, diatomic, lipophilic gas that plays an integral role in defending against pathogens. Among its many functions are involvement in immune cell signaling and in the biochemical reactions by which immune cells defend against bacteria, fungi, viruses and parasites. NO signaling directs a broad spectrum of processes, including the differentiation, proliferation, an...

The effect of nitric oxide on bacteria.

Nitric oxide, as well as several other oxides of nitrogen, were assayed for their antibacterial action. It is shown that nitric oxide has virtually no effect on bacteria, whereas both NaNO(3) and NaNO(2) appear to have either neutral or stimulatory effects. It is suggested that the formation of nitrous acid is mainly responsible for the quantitative as well as the qualitative changes that occur...

Effect of nitric oxide on anammox bacteria.

The effects of nitrogen oxides on anammox bacteria are not well known. Therefore, anammox bacteria were exposed to 3,500 ppm nitric oxide (NO) in the gas phase. The anammox bacteria were not inhibited by the high NO concentration but rather used it to oxidize additional ammonium to dinitrogen gas under conditions relevant to wastewater treatment.
